Fees

How much will ETIAS cost?

Current EU information lists a €20 application fee, with exemptions for some travelers. No official ETIAS payment can be made while applications are closed.

Current published fee

The planned official application fee is €20. Travelers under 18 or over 70, and certain eligible family members, are currently described as exempt from the fee, but may still need an authorization.

Fee exemption does not always mean ETIAS exemption

An eligible traveler may owe no fee but still need an application and authorization. Check authorization eligibility separately from payment eligibility.

Official fee versus service fee

A private intermediary can add its own charge for form assistance. That extra amount does not buy faster official processing, stronger legal status, or guaranteed approval. The provider should disclose its role and total charge before collecting payment.

Do not pay today

ETIAS is not operating, so a payment made today is not an official ETIAS application payment. Check the EU status page before entering card or passport information.

Payment checklist after launch

  • Start from an official EU page.
  • Confirm the published fee and exemption rules.
  • Check the full web address before entering card details.
  • Keep the receipt and application reference.
  • Contact your card issuer if a charge was misleading or unauthorized.

Costs ETIAS does not cover

The fee does not include travel insurance, visa charges, passport renewal, carrier fees, or private assistance. ETIAS also does not guarantee boarding or entry.

Questions travelers ask

Can I pay the ETIAS fee now?

No. Applications are closed, so there is no official ETIAS payment to make today.

Will children pay the fee?

Current EU information describes travelers under 18 as exempt from the fee, though eligible minors may still need authorization.

Does a higher payment improve approval?

No. A private service charge does not strengthen an application or guarantee approval.
